Halfway to Horta by Harmon Shragge

Leg 3 Blog 4 June 19, 2025

Last night ended with a gentle sunset. Here is a relaxing moment looking aft before I hit the sack for a couple of hours…

Here is our video from yesterday that did not make it due to technical difficulties by yours truly. Sorry about that!! So here-we-go -“Take 2!” Randall gives us a gentle introduction of how the sailing is going.

Today began on a rather mundane note with Randall, as he does so often, taking the vital signs of the engine. Got to keep ‘er humming….

As the sun came out it was time for me to clean up. I have made the decision to not grow my beard like Randall. Only one such beard allowed on board. This means that I will shave every four or five days which is that maximum that I can go without it causing a problem.

Felt good to be outside in my “sun” clothes. Long gone are the days we could wear short sleeves and shorts. We now wear SPF rated outers, and when the sun is really shining I will add the hat and gloves. So rather than put on a lot of sunblock, I go for the total block. My dermatologist finally got the better of me.

Happy Big Birthday to Barbara Franzoia back home. Sorry I am not there to join you!!

Thank you! Always a good feeling to see the red sky, but does not always translate to good wind the next day!

What a glorious post! I nearly wept looking at the amazing ocean, blue, benign (seemingly! or momentarily?), endless, and timeless. I had a wonderful moment of mental respite from the trials and tribulations of the land. Lucky youse guys!

Thank you so much Mary. Ocean is so amazing. We look at it 27/7 and it changes constantly. Not always easy to communicate that through pictures and videos, but sometimes it works. Harmon

  4. the sunset video was beautiful. Can you put the audio on a loop & it use it as a sleep 😴 aid?

So glad you like. I will put in more and see if I can get it to loop. For fun, I periodically record the sound of the ocean rushing by as heard from my bunk. I also find that relaxing, but interestingly I have not yet used it for a sleepless night on shore. Thanks for following! Love from the abyss! Harmon

Thank you Richie. It is my pleasure to communicate the little parts of our day that others just might find interesting. Thanks to Randall and Joanne for making sure that I produce output!
